Agriturismo Castello di Spedaletto suggests you the best routes for visiting the Val d’Orcia and all tips for your holiday in Tuscany. The Itinerary “Wine and Beauty” is meant for those traveling by car or better by motorcycle, but if you are trained by bicycle is of course the best way to visit Val d’Orcia. The route stretches for about 40 km between Monticchiello, Pienza and Montepulciano, to discover the artistic beauty of three of the most beautiful tuscan town. From Montepulciano’s Nobile Wine to Pienza’s Pecorino. Departure and return from our farm Spedaletto Castle, below the map. Here is the itinerary:

1) PODERE LAMONE

2) MONTICCHIELLO:
This is a typical medieval village, when you arrive at Monticchiello will seem as if time has stood still. A small village perched on the hill: the mighty walls, narrow streets, authentic beauty just outside the classic tourist itineraries. Stroll the streets of Monticchiello to the square where every summer are held performances of the renowned “Poor Theater” of Monticchiello is really a dream.

3) MONTEPUCLIANO:
Perched on top of a hill between Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana, Montepulciano is a wonderful medieval town, a unique village with elegant Renaissance palaces, ancient churches, beautiful squares and picturesque hidden corners that often open up breathtaking views. Piazza Grande is the heart of Montepulciano and the stage of the main events of the city including the “Bravio delle Botti” a characteristic race with wine barrels, which is held in August. A walk through the streets of Montepulciano is the best way to discover the town, perhaps stopping in one of the many wine bars to enjoy a fine glass of wine Nobile di Montepulciano.

4) PIENZA:
The ideal city exist! Pienza is a small jewel set in the rolling hills of the Val d’Orcia: the panoramic terraces, the alleys, the famous cheese and many other surprises to be discovered … Discover the shops or dairies Pecorino cheese typical for excellence, even taste it in combined with a good glass of wine, honey, jams or pears.
